The Interaction of East Asian Winter Monsoon with ENSO Cycle and Their Interdecadal Variations in Last Century
|
Abstract:
Based on the method of coherence and moving coherence analysis, the interaction of East Asian monsoon with ENSO cycle and their interdecadal variations in last century are investigated. The results show several points: a) the relationship of East Asian monsoon and the east equatorial Pacific SST on the interannual time scale presents the interdecadal variations; b) the interaction of monsoon with ENSO cycle is under the influence of QBO in monsoon and under the control of the phase relation of monsoon to SST on the interdecadal time scale; c) when the interdecadal variation of East Aisan monsoon is in phase with that of the east equatorial Pacific SST, strong winter East Aisan monsoon is beneficial to the temperature increasing of the east equatorial Pacific in the next winter and leads to the El Nio event, and when the two air-sea systems are out of phase, the strong winter monsoon is corresponding to the La Nia in the next winter.
