Precipitation Recycling in Southern and Central China
|
Abstract:
An evaluation of precipitation recycling in southern and central China was made using 20-year NCEP reanalysis data. It is found that 20% of the precipitation in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and 40% of the precipitation in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River come from the evaporation within the research region. The precipitation recycling varies obviously with seasons: it has the highest value of about 0.4 in August, September, and October, while it does not reach a quarter in May, June, and July. Both Evaporation and precipitation recycling increase during the 20 years, which may be the results of climate warming.
