Coupled Waves in Simple Tropical Air-Sea Interaction Models and Their Instabilities (II)
|
Abstract:
In order to find which free waves in the air and sea are dominative in the unstable disturbanc(ofthe air-sea coupled system, the properties of coupled waves for different meridional modes in Lheair-sea couPled system are discussed, respectively, based on the tropical air--sea interaction model roposed in Part I of this paper. Through studies of the coupled waves of atmospheric Rossby wave' vs.oceanic ones, atmospheric Kelvin wave vs. oceanic Rossby waves, atmospheric Rossby waves vs oce nicRossby waves, and the coupled waves in the case when all these waves in the air and sea are conside ed,respectively, the results show that all these coupled waves are sensitive to the parameters used in themodel and different properties can be obtained with different parameters. The results also indicate beatthe characteristics of the air-sea coupled system have much to do with the property and structure of theatmosphere.
