A New Denoising Method for Small Target Detection
|
Abstract:
A new method integrating the SUSAN principle and mathematical morphology approach is presented for the detection of small targets in a gray level image with a low signal to noise ratio (SNR). First, the SUSAN principle is applied to extract features directly at the gray scale level. Then a morphological operator is used to separate targets from noise disturbance. An application example is given. Experimental results show that the method can effectively and reliably detect a small target from pictures of low SNR.
