Spatial discretization of watershed and its influence on runoff simulation
|
Abstract:
Two commonly used methods of watershed segmentation were compared and analyzed. One is subarea method, and the other is grid method. Also the influence of those two methods on runoff modeling over a catchment was investigated. It is shown that spatial scale should interrelate and match with temporal scale, the selection of spatiotemporal scales for hydrological processes modeling depends upon research purpose, size of study area, sources of information within a basin and avilability of input data. Finally the Shiguanhe river catchment was selected as an example to show the effect of spatial partitioning on daily discharge simulation at the outlet.
