A Compound Circular Array for Performance Improvement of DOA Estimation for Coherent Signals

Abstract:
In order to achieve circular array estimate for the DOA of coherent signals in all orientation and to improve the performances, a new estimation method is proposed in this paper. The method combines the hybrid DOA estimation algorithm and the compound circular array formed by sub-arrays that use the pattern synthesis technique based on adaptive array theory. Simulation results indicate that the new method makes the DOA estimation possible for coherent signals in all orientation in some degree. It also increases the number of estimated coherent signals, and improves the ability of resisting interference and resolution. Therefore the ambiguity is reduced and the robust is enhanced accordingly.
