CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF 20# STEEL IN POLYACRYLAMIDE FLOODING SOLUTION

Abstract:
The corrosion of 20~# steel in polyacrylamide flooding solution used in oil field was investigated by electrochemical methods combined with series of surface analytical technologies,such as SEM,XRD and XPS.The corrosion of 20~# steel was in the form of active corrosion.Pits and ditches were formed on its surface after sixty days.The corrosion products formed in polyacrylamide solution were FeOOH,Fe 3O 4 and Fe 2O 3,the crystal grain was finer and showed some amorphous features.The degradation of polyacrylamide occurred because of the corrosion of 20~# steel and thereby,the stability of polyacrylamide flooding solution was reduced.
