FAILURE ANALYSIS OF STAINLESS STEEL USED IN A HEAT-EXCHANGER EQUIPMENT
|
Abstract:
The corrosion-induced failure behavior of stainless steel used in a heat-exchanger equipment was analysized by various methods including Energy Dispersive Spectrometry(EDS),optical microscopy and chemical composition analysis. The results showed that the failure is induced mainly by the intergranular precipitation of carbides, the high content of chloride ion in the medium as well as the residual stress of the steel component.
