Abstract:
Objective To study the clinical value of microwave ablation (MWA)in the elderly patients with breast cancer under the guidance of ultrasound. Methods Under the screening of dynamic altrasound,16 cases of breast neoplasms in 16 elderly women diagnosed as breast cancer by pathologic examination were treated with MWA. The curative effects, pathologic and sonographic changes were recorded. Results After the treatment, 16 cases of cancers were demonstrated by pathologic examination to be necrotic in situ and the hemodynamic signal was disappeared in CDFI. The treatment time was 32.4 ± 11.6 min without severe complications. The volume of neoplasms was 1.76 ± 1.55 cm^3 before therapy. While within 1 month during follow-up visits, they were 1.83 ± 1.59 cm^3 with the echo reduced and the border unsharp. The neoplasms were gradually minished 1 mouth later during follow-up visits. The volume of neoplasms was obviously diminished ( P 〈 0. 05 ) in 3,6, 12 months during follow-up visits and the minifications were (27.2 ±6. 1 )% , (55. 1 ± 7.4)% , (84.6 ± 8.3)% , respectively. The tumor-free survival patients in the 1,2,3 years were 16,15,14, respectively . Conclusions Breast cancers can be accurately positioned and mehed with MWA under the screening of ultrasound, which is minimal invasive, easy to access and cost saving, especially for the operation-intolerant patients.
