An argon-ion pumped room temperature Pr3+:YLF laser has been mode-locked for the first time to our knowledge by both active mode-locking using an acousto optic modulatorand by passive mode locking utilising a moving mirror.Both methods have been shown to produce stable trains of picosecond pulses.
