ELECTROCHEMCIAL MEASUREMENT OF CRITICAL PITTING TEMPERATURE OF 0Cr25Ni7Mo4,316 AND 304 STAINLESS STEELS IN 3.5%NaCl SOLUTION
|
Abstract:
The pitting corrosion of 0Cr25Ni7Mo4, 304 and 316 stainless steels has been studied by measuring evolution of corrosion current with temperature in 1 mol/L NaCl solutions under constant potentials. The pitting corrosion resistance of the stainless steels was ranked by their critical pitting temperatures, which for 0Cr25Ni7Mo4 and 316 stainless steels are 79,5 12 and 15 12 respectively, but for 304 stainless steels are subfreezing. The experimental results were discussed on the basis of the composition of the steels.
