Abstract:

Ni-SiC nano composite coatings were electrodeposited on pure copper substrate.The surface morphology and distribution of nano particles of the composite coatings was observed by scanning electron microscope(SEM),microhardness of coatings was tested by HXD-1000 microhardness indenter.The results show that the microstructure of Ni-SiC nano composite coatings is different from electrodeposited simple nickel coatings.The electrodeposition process followed the so called adsorption principal.However the addition of nano particles SiC,enabled the microstructure of composite coatings to be effectively refined,thereby the microhardness of composite coatings was enhanced apparently in comparison to that of electrodeposited nickel coatings.Abrasion resistance of Ni-SiC nano composite coatings is very good.
