Effect of yttrium and gadolinium addition on corrosion rate of AZ81 magnesium alloy in 3.5% NaCl solution was studied by static weight-loss test.The microstructure of the alloys were observed by optical microscope and the morphologies of corrosion surface were examined with scanning electron microscopy.The results indicated that with the addtion of 1% rare earth,the grains size of the AZ81 magnesium alloy was obviously refined and the microstructure and distribution of components was much uniform.The corros...
