STUDY ON ANODIC AND CATHODIC REACTIONS OF X70 STEEL IN LACTIC ACID SOLUTION

Abstract:
Anodic and cathodic reactions of X70 steel in lactic acid solutions with different concentration were investigated using electrochemical technique, combined with analysis of surface by FT-IR spectra. The results indicated that the lactic acid anion is absorbed on the surface of X70 steel which blocks the dissolution of X70 steel so that with the increasing of the concentration of lactic acid solution, the anodic current of X70 steel decreases and the cathodic current increases at first and reduces later. In addition, the possible mechanism of corrosion of X70 steel in lactic acid solution was brought forward.
