WORK HARDENING OF SHOT PEENING AFFECTED LAYER OF MATERIALS IN HARD STATE
|
Abstract:
The investigated material was treated in hard state. Uniaxial tensile or compressive plastic deformation caused an increase in the yield strengths and a decrease in the half width values for the unpeened surface and the base material of the shot peened speCimens. The half width values of the shot peened surface and surface layer greatly decreased, whereas the yield strength of this surface remarkably increased. The half width values could not correctly describe the static strength of a hard metallic material, the shot Peened surface of such materials is work hardened instead of work softened.
