EXAMINATION OF LOCALIZED CORROSION AND LIFETIME EVALUATION FOR STEEL CABLE
|
Abstract:
Cable is an important member of cable suspension bridges. The high-tensile steel used in the cables is very sensitive to corrosion. This paper describes that the effective service or the function of the cable are affected by surface corrosion especialy pitting corrosion of the steel wires of the cable so as to affect the bridge safe working. We examined the degree of rusting and pitting of the steel wires for cable suspension bridges and then predicted the residual lifetime of the cables based on the data of corrosion monitoring.
