ADSORPTION AND CORROSION INHIBITION OF CATIONIC GEMINI SURFACTANTS ON STEEL SURFACE IN HYDROCHLORIC ACID
|
Abstract:
Cationic gemini surfactants 1,2-ethane bis(dimethyl decyl ammonium bromide) (10-2-10) and 1,2-ethane bis(dimethyl dodecyl ammonium bromide) (12-2-12) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and ()~1H-NMR,and the adsorption and corrosion inhibition of these gemini surfactants on steel surface in 1M hydrochloride acid were studied using weight loss method. It was found that the adsorption of gemini surfactants on the steel surface, which conforms to Langmiur's isothermal adsorption,is the main reason of corrosion inhibition for the steel in hydrochloride acid, and the inhibition efficiency increases with the increase of surfactant concentration and reaches the maximum value near the critical micelle concentration(CMC).
