ANALYSIS OF CORROSION PERFORATION OF PIPELINE FOR A POWER PLANT WATER

The causes of corrosion perforation of a water pipeline have been studied by means of rotary coupon corrosion tests,potentiodynamic polarization,chemical analysis,X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Electron probe micro-analyzer(EPMA).The results demonstrated that the deposit of dissolved impurities and corrosion product could form an oxygen concentration different cell,which grow into an occluded corrosion cell(OCC).The OCC was considered to accelerate corrosion beneath deposit until the pipe perforated.
