INTERFACES IN METAL MATRIX COMPOSITES
|
Abstract:
All Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) were fabricated at high temperature near the melting point of matrix alloys. During fabricated process, interfaces with different structures formed because of interfacial reactions between matrix alloys and reinforcements such as fibres, whiskers and particles appeared to some extent. Properties of MMCs were depended on interfacial structures and properties decisively. In order to contrtol the interfacial structures and properties effectively, and to obtain MMCs with high properties,it is very important to study and understand interfacial reactions. In this paper, interfacial reactions in MMCs, the effects of interfaces on properties and the effective ways to control interfacial reactions and to optimize interfacial structures were discussed.
