NUMERICAL STUDY ON THE FACTORS AFFECTING THE CONVECTION DURING ACRT

Abstract:
The flow in the crucible during ACRT process is calculated with SOLA-VOF(a solution algorithm based on the concept of the volume of fluid).The effeCts of the rotation acceleration, the diameter,and the maximum rotation sped as well as its lasting time, of the crucible are studied through numerical calculations. For six groups of ACRT parameters, the evolution of the convection has the same trend .Among three kinds Of accelerations, 15rpm / s, 30rpm / s, and infinity,the medium one can make the strongest convection of the fluid in the crucible. As the diameter,or the maximum rotation speed, or its lasting time increases, the convection in the crucible will be enhanced .These results are consistent with those of the water simulation experiments by the same authors.
