MELTING AND SUPERHEATING OF CRYSTALS
|
Abstract:
Melting is one of the most common phenomena in nature and one of the most important structural phase transitions investigated in material sciences. The main results and new development achieved in recent years in the studies on the melting processes of crystals are reviewed. Both the effects on melting mechanisms due to interfaces and how to achieve superheated crystals are emphasized. The upper limit for superheating has also been discussed.
