THE ESR PROPERTIES OF NANO ZrO_2 POWDER AND ITS SURFACE EFFECTS

Abstract:
Nano ZrO2 powder were prepared by precipitation method.BET,TEM,XRD and ESR techniques were used to characteristic the properies of the powder.It shows that nano ZrO2 has two kinds of ESR signals,which are assigned to the Zr(+3) and Fs-center paramagnetic centers respectively.The Zr(+3)signal is a bulk related signal,on the contrary, the Fs-center signal is a surface related one.Quantitative ESR experiments indicated that the Fs-center signal intensity increase and the Zr(+3)signal intensity decreases with the increase of specific surface area.The critical specific surface area is 16m2 g(-1).
