SYNTHESIS OF SUPERSATURATED NANOCRYSTALLINE STRUCTURES PRODUCED BY MECHANICAL ALLOYING IN Al-Ti SYSTEM
|
Abstract:
-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and hardness measurement were used to study the mechanical alloying of Al-Ti system. It is found that Al-15at.-%Ti exhibits supersaturated structure after ball milling for 40h. Besides forming Al(Ti) for Al-10at.-%Ti, a little of fcc phase is evidenced. The Al-5at.-%Ti does not transform into Al(Ti) completely even after ball milling for 120h while a mixture of Al(Ti) and fcc structured phase coexists. This behavior can well be explained by basing on the view of fast diffusion in nanocrystalline grain bounbaries.
