THE COADSORPTION OF Ag~+ AND METHYLENE BLUE ON ACFs
|
Abstract:
Single component adsorption and coadsorption behavior of Ag(NH3); and methylene blue on two kinds of ACFs, aCtivated with steam and ZnCl2 respectively, were studied. The adsorption of methylene blue on these two kinds of ACFs could be described with Langmuir equation quite well. The amounts of methylene blue adsorbed on ACFs mainly depended on the specific sudece area and pore size distribution of ACF. The reduction-adsorption amount of Ag by ACFs however, depend on the sudece chemistry of ACFs. It was shown that the reduction-adsorption amounts of Ag by ZCSACF or ZCSACF which was activated by ZnCl2 were about 300mg.g-1 carbon, which was 3 times of that by SACF activated by steam. The reduction-adsorption capacities of Ag by SACF was enhanced by the peence of methylene blue. The reduction-adsorption amount of Ag on SACF at the presence of methylene blue could reach as high as 600mg.g-1 carbon.
