SURFACE MORPHOLOGY AND MICROTRIBOLOGICAL BEHAVIOR OF MAGNETIC VIDEO TAPES

Abstract:
The surface morphology and microtribological behavior of Sony and Super magnetic video tapes were investigated by atomic force / friction force microscope. The results show that the surface roughness and grain size of Super video tape were almost the same as that of Sony video tape, but the friction coefficient of Super video tape was higher than that of Sony tape. There were relationships among surface profile, slope of surface profile and friction force image. The friction force was in linear with the nano-scaleload and the slope of surface profile.
