SOME PROGRESS IN THE STUDY OF ADVANCED COMPOSITE MATERIALS

Some recent progress in the study of advanced composite materials in theInstitute of Metal Ressearch,Academia Sinica are briefly reviewedin this paper.Continu-ous fibre,whisker and particle reinforced metal matrix composites are introduced.Physicalmodels,thermal stress induced failure mechanisms and property studies are discussed.Thebionic design of composite materials are investigated.
