STUDY OF PHASE TRANSITIONS BYSCANNING TUNNELLING MICROSCOPY

Abstract:
The working mechanism of Scanning Tunnelling Microscope(STM),which is a novel surfaceanalysis apparatus with very high resolution,is briefly introduced. Some of those important experimental results as to the STM investigation of the atomic structure and surface transition of metals and semiconductorsare collected in this paper, such as in situ study on atoms, surface transition, surface absorption (surface reaction), and physical depostition, etc.. The experimental techniques and new results of STM of phase structureand phase transition are given in full length here.
