THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MICROSTRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF BIOCERAMIC MATERIALS FOR OSSICULAR CHAIN
|
Abstract:
By analysing of mechanics model of human ossicular chain system, the ef-fects of the system mass, transmitted audio frequency and Combined strength of tissue withartificial ossicular chain(AOC) on mechanical and acoustic impedance of the system havebeen studied.Physical properties and microstructure of materials which are required forAOC have been theoretically presentted.Clinical implantationj investigation of AOC madefrom both alumina and strengthened porous hydroxyl-apatite ceramic(SPHC)have beencarried out respectively, the results are in accord with theoretical analyses. The study hasshowed that mechanical and acoustic impedance of system which are implantted withSPHC AOC are less than one implantted alumina AOC in the range speech sounds fre-quency,and the latter has showed more rapid weakening than the former above 200Hz.It issuggestted that SPHC is ideal material for AOC.
