Abstract:
In this paper a new model theory of tensile strength for self-reinforced polymerswas derived from the theory of stress-induced crystallization and of chemical reaction rate acti-vated by stress.A new correlation between the tensile strength with the processing and testingcoditions and with the primary structure of polymers were formulated. It is successful in relatingthe tensile strength to the drawn ratios and temperature of processing,to the extension rate oftesting and to the primary molecular weight and its distribution of initial polymers. These rela-tions are theortical foundation for studying the dependence of tensile strength on the processingand testing conditions and on the primary structure of polymers.
