REGULAR STRAIN BURSTS DURING INTERMEDIATE TEMPERATURE CYCLIC CREEP FOR Al-3.36wt-%Mg ALLOY

Abstract:
The phenomena of strain bursts have been studied in an Al-3.36 wt-%Mgsolid solution alloy during cyclic creep at intermediate temperature.The strain bursts of thisalloy occurring only at the certain cyclic stress and test temperature are different form thoseirregular ones discovered in the pure copper at room temperature but seem to show the ob-vious periodicity.Moreover,the period of strain bursts in the secondary creep stage is strongly depen-dent on both the cyclic peak stress and creep temperature.However,the experimental dataunder the conditions of different stress and temperature have shown that there is a commoncorrelation between the period of strain bursts and the steady state creep rate.And themechanism of dislocation movement during the strain bursts is also discussed.
