THE GASDYNAMICAL ANALYSIS OF GAS-LUBRICATED SLIDER BEARINGS UNDER HIGH KNUDSEN NUMBER CONDITIONS

Abstract:
A generalized lubrication equation derived from a linearized Boltzmann equation is solved by finite difference method in this paper, and the results of static characteristics and dynamic characteristics are also given Numerical analysis of the equation for high Knudsen numbers reveals three principal resul s First, a generalized lubrication equation must be used for ultra-thin gas film aod low velocity. Second, the modified Reynolds equation featuring the first-order velocity slip boundary condition overestimates load carrying capacities. And finally, third, the approximation eqution including both the first-order and second-order velocity slip boundary conditions underestimates them.
