The improvement for the ICM method of structural topology optimization

Abstract:
In this paper, ICM (independent, continuous, mapping) method for structural topology optimization is researched. By selecting a different filter function, the clear topological configuration can be obtained and it is not necessary to delete elements in every iteration as usual. The procedure of formulating and solving the topology optimization model with ICM method is illustrated by the example of topology optimization problem with displacement constraints. The topology optimizations are researched which with displacement constraints, frequency constraints, displacement and frequency constraints, and displacement amplitude constraints under harmonic loading. The numerical examples show that it is feasible and convenient to solve static or dynamic structural topology optimization by ICM method. The algorithms are performed on the further development platform of MSC. Nastran and MSC. Patran software and the user interfaces are integrated with those of MSC. Patran software.
