Abstract:

The method of cells and micromechanics in conjunction with the computational method is employed in this investigation to determine the local and average stress strain fields within the composite. Effective elastic properties of spherical and non spheridal particulate reinforced composite materials are analyzed by the finite element simulation. The effect of the particle array and distribution,particle orientation and shape on the effective moduli is examined in order to be able to design the better microstructures of the composites. The comparison between numerical results and experimental results shows that the particle array does affect the axial elastic modules, and the effect of particle shape and orientation on the effective properties is obvious.
