THE STABILITY OF A CHAPLYGIN''''S SPHERE ROLLING ON A SLIGHTLY ROUGH HORIZONTAL PLANE
|
Abstract:
The stability of a Chaplygin's sphere rolling on a slightly rough horizontal plane is discussed. It is shown that the rolling of the sphere is uniformly stable about the axis of the biggest principal central moment of inertia not only with low viscous, but also with low dry friction, and unstable about the axis of the smallest one only with low viscous friction. The stability of a Chaplygin's sphere rolling on a slightly rough horizontal plane is discussed.
