A STUDY ON GROWTH CHARACTERISTICS OF YOUNG PLANTATIONS OF SOME TREE SPECIES OF MAGNO LIACEAE
|
Abstract:
The analysis and comparision of the growth charactristics of 13 treespecies of Magnoliaceae were carried out by using qualitative and qua-titative analysis. The results showed the followings: 1. The ordination of fast-growing tree species by principal componentanalysis indicated that their mean increment is higher than that ofMagnolia grandiflora used as control in the experiment. The fast-gro-wing species showed two growth peaks during seasonal growth, and thefast-growing point is most likely to appears from middle of June or July. 2. The seasonal growth can be expressed by a Logistic model. Byparameterization of the model with the experiment data, some informa-tion such as fast-growing point, fast-growing period and value of growthcharacteristics in each tree species can be obtained. 3. There is a significant linear corelation between tree growth inc-rement and the product of growth time and maxium speed of growth.
