THE COUPLED LOGISTIC MAP LATTICES OF DESCRIBING METAPOPULATION DYNAMICS
|
Abstract:
Metapopulation perspective has provided a means of describing ecological processes at a spatial scale above the local population. There are many difficulties of imposing current concept of metapopulations on many plant species because plants possess a number of special features (for example, seed dormancy, restricted dispersal and local adaptation).Metapopulation dynamics were broadly defined as the product of the local population dynamics within patches and the dispersal between patches so that it more accurately reflects the dynamics of plant metapopulation. The logistic model used to describe the local population dynamics, the spatial dispersal was represented by a dispersal coefficient.Author gave the coupled logistic map lattices model of describing metapopulation dynamics. The model for logistic map x n 1 =1-ax 2 n shows many interesting types of spatiotemporal behaviour which may be important as considering the dynamics of the real populations.
