Effects of silicon on dry matter and nutrient accumulation and grain yield in hybrid Japonica rice (Oryza Sativa L)
|
Abstract:
The effects of silicon on dry matter and nutrient accumulations and grain yield in hybrid Japonica rice were studied and the results summarized below: increase in grain yield and dry matter accumulation as a result of silicon application was more remarkable in hybrid Japonica rice than in normal Japonica rice. Absorption of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium by rice plant was enhanced by silicon application and this effect was also more obvious in hybrid Japonica rice than in normal japonica rice, especially in case of potassium. Demand for silicon was higher in hybrid Japonica rice plant. Thus, application of silicon as a prospective measure in high or super high yield culture of hybrid Japonica rice deserves our due attention.
