Comparative analysis of site classification based on crop yield index and cluster analysis
|
Abstract:
A comparative analysis of site classification based on crop yieldindex and cluster analysis is presented. The yield index revealed three Clusters, Suitability Class 1 (SC1) >900 kg/hm2], Suitability Class 2 (SC2) 500-900 kg/hm2], and Suitability Class 3 (SC3) <500 kg/hm2]. Cluster analysis revealed three classes at absolute delineation distance of about 86 units. The basic structure of the sites was not seriously violated as sites were grouped in satisfactory classes based on the attributes. Although, assignment of sites by Cluster Analysis did not wholly agree with that based on yield index, it is clear from the results that the crop yield index complemented with an appropriate attribute summarization technique could reliably be used in classifying sites in production systems.
