On Six Dilemmas in the Reform of China''''s Newspaper Groups

Abstract:
Nowadays under the impact of economic globalization, regional economic integration and the impulse of economic and political reform china's media industry is in the process of bitter transformation. It has fallen into a strange predicament. This is not only the sign of crises which the old media industry system has sunk in, but also the foreboding of the birth of new media industry system. In such background and in the process of media transformation, the issue of how to deal with the dilemmas scientifically and rationally in the of china's newspaper groups' reform and at the same time build a dynamic and competitive china's news paper industry has naturally become the focus of the of china's media industry.By the ways of materialism and dialectic, the thesis has listed six dilemmas which exist in the reform of china's newspaper groups and can not be better explained with simple theory of management: 1. whether should they be larger or smaller in the scale. 2. whether should they be stronger of bigger first? 3.whether their management organization is rational individual or irrational collective. 4.whether the organization structure is tier system or flat system. 5.whether the tropism of strategy is globalization or localization. 6.whether the tactic of development is specialization or pluralism. The paper, by carefully using viewpoints of media economy, management theory and media ecology, presents rational analysis and scientific paraphrases of the six difficulties from different perspectives. It also attempts to combine china's local situation with media reality, seek ways to comprehend and explore means to resolve existing problems so as to promote healthy development of china's media industry and newspaper industry groups.
