Aerobic metabolism of mixed culture of ammonia oxidation
|
Abstract:
Denitrification with ammonia as electron donor is a new microbial reaction, named anaerobic ammonia oxidation The characteristics of mixed culture from an anaerobic ammonia oxidation reactor are compared with those of Nitrosomonas europaea and those of mixed culture from a nitrification reactor, respectively The mixed culture from the anaerobic ammonia oxidation reactor is capable of metabolizing ammonia and hydroxylamine aerobically and converting them to nitrite The conversion of ammonia and hydroxylamine is inhibited by allythiourea (an inhibitor of ammonia oxidation ) and hydrazine (an inhibitor of hydroxylamine oxidation)
