Speech and Mission in the Late-Qing Period

Public speech has a long history in China.It was once used by the Qing Government to publicize Shengyu Guangxun.The Chinese speeches made by Western missionaries changed the attitude,ideas,texture and style of speech-making in the Qing Dynasty.This change is actually the transition from ancient to modern public speech-making.It is also a witness of the transitional role that Western missionaries played in the Chinese speech-making style.
