Improving Aesthetic Perception of Drama by Poetic Mysticism Feelings--Poetic Study of Cao Yu''''s Drama

Abstract:
Cao Yu's drama which embodies ultimate meaning of poetry through aesthetic expression gains lasting vitality between the realistic life and philosophic pondering. The poetic feelings of the poet adds charm and sensible color to Cao Yu's drama, and the creation background that originates from primitive divinity metaphor expands the expression dimension of Cao Yu's tragedy. In his typical tragedy, the Gods of thunder, sun and earth are respectively the metaphors of Fan Yi's image, sunrise and Qiu Hu's revenge, which help the poetic explanation of the three issues of individual vice, group vice and the Chinese presents' spiritual dependence and enhance the mysterious beauty of tragedy. On the other hand, the creation originated from naturalism and mysticism based on religion strengthens the connotation of Cao Yu's drama. Meanwhile, fear of fatality and fancy spirit enriches the aesthetic content of the drama and renders the critical realistic theme strongly romantic. Thirdly, the fate pondering based on breaking the inhibition construes the conception of free spirit between realistic and ideal living. The situation unexplainable in words in the living mileage manifests poet's deep concern about human life in the context of individual's struggling against the mysterious fate. At the same time, in his reflection, the conflicts between good and evil, life and death has transcended the surface of living world. The struggling of the individual adds more vividness to drama's characters. That's where Cao Yu's unique abilities surpass most of other playwrights, and why his drama is still affecting the contemporary living and accepted by most of the readers after nearly one century.
