China: Transition to a Democratic and Stable Constitutional Order

Abstract:
The main purpose of this paper is to sum up the lessons pertaining to the constitutional order in China drawn from the experience in the past century. There are three parts in this paper. The significance of establishing a democratic and stable constitutional order is discussed in the first part. The second part deals with the reasons why the constitutionsl order has not been realized so far. And the last part is devoted to some suggestions on the ways by which China can reach the goal in the new century.
