An Analysis of the Ways Promoting the Industrial Structure Upgrading in Zhejiang Province through Foreign Trade and FDI

It is obvious that a region or a country can gain static benefits through foreign trade and foreign direct investment (FDI). Furthermore, foreign trade and FDI can promote the transition and upgrading of the area's industrial structure, which suggests that dynamic benefits can be achieved in such a process. The thesis elaborates on the ways in which the mechanics of foreign trade and FDI can promote the industrial structure upgrading and then makes an empirical analysis to illuminate its effect in Zhejiang province, namely, how the foreign trade and FDI have influenced the evolution of the industrial structure. On the basis of all these above-mentioned demonstrations, the thesis puts forward the outline and strategies to employ foreign trade and FDI to promote the upgrading of the industuial structure in Zhejiang province, such as practicing the industrial-structure-upgrading-oriented open-door strategy, the balance of export and import strategy and the foreign trade-FDI interacted development strategy.
