On the Reform Of Old-style Private Schools in Modern Zhejiang

At Modern Times, the old elementary institutes of education remained on the historical stage while the new-style primary schools had sprouted and grown quickly at the same time. To make full use of the original resources of education and tap the latent power of nongovernmental education, Zhejiang authorities had reformed the old-style private schools on a comparative large scale three times. The first reform happened in the late period of !New Political Programs" of the Late Qing dynasty. The second reform took place from 1915 to 1920s; while the third occurred from 1932 to 1937. The reform of the old-style private schools was in progress, following the practice of compulsory education.
