Since 1990s, large scale merger and acquisition has become a striking characteristic in the development of intemational banking industry. The thesis makes an analysis of the motives and effects of this global merger and acquisition with the basic theory of scale economies as its focus. And finally, on the basis of that, the paper makes a survey of the restructure of banking industry in China.
