The White Peacock: The Outset of D. H. Lawrence''''s Philosophical Exploration
|
Abstract:
D. H. Lawrence expounds his philosophical ideas in all his works, but his first novel The White Peacock is the outset of his literary approach to philosophical problems. He holds the worldview that the universe consists of oppositions. He concentrates on exploring in his novels such oppositions as existing between reason and intuition, body and spirit, nature and civilization. This novel paves the way for his later literary creation.
