Comment on Collation of Fang Yan Jian Shu
《方言笺疏》校勘评议

The thesis makes an elaborate and comprehensive collation on Fang Yan Jian Shu by Qian Yi and Qian Tong of the Qing Dynasty from its collating methods, defects in collation and inspirations to the Iater periods. In the collationg methods, Qian had collated various editions of Fang Yan by Yang Xiong of the Han Dynasty and various works on the study of Fang Yan by later authors thereof. Qian pointed out some features of ancient annotates and systems of ancient wirtings, as well as intepreted some ancient culture words. But there are some subjective assertions and neglects of penetrating opinions of the previous collators in his collation. However, Qian's works could help study Fang Yan and the history of interpretation.
