Semiotics of Language and Literary Parole
|
Abstract:
Language is not a transparent window to view things. Semiotics of languange makes literary parole pragmatic. Based on the view of pragmatics, this thesis focuses on the special use of the signified and signifier nature of linguistic signs in the literary text(of Chinese poetry mainly). Denotation of the signified is used in literary text concretely, but its connotation makes signs meaningful. Both of them combine in the image of literature so that metaphor and symbol dominate in the literary expression. On the other hand, the signifier is used to be an element of literary expression through arrangement of stressed syllable, rhymen, rhyme scheme and rhythm.
