It is suggested that this novel belongs to Bildungsromans which is connected with the rites of initiation, The motifs, archetypes, structures and symbolic deaths and rebirths of the hero in the novelshow the tensions between culture and personality, society and individual, "self"and "others". The end of the novel expresses the writer's reflection and embarrassment vis-a-vis the above dilemma.
